We protect your gums with a barrier paste before covering your front-facing teeth with professional strength whitening gel. We formulate the whitening agents to meet your needs and allow them to remain in place for 15 to 20 minutes. We can repeat this process up to three times in a single visit, resulting in teeth being several shades whiter by the time you leave the surgery. This approach and formulation minimises tooth sensitivity and prevents soft tissue irritation.

Take-Home Teeth Whitening Kits

Many patients opt to continue their teeth whitening treatments at home with our custom take-home whitening system. We start by taking smile impressions to send to our in-house Mini-Star machine. This technology moulds custom whitening trays that will improve the outcome of your treatments. 

Custom whitening trays keep the whitening gel away from your delicate gum tissue and on tooth surfaces where tooth discolouration develops. Patients typically see maximum results after 10 to 14 days of regular use for 45 minutes to an hour daily.

You can keep your trays to touch up your teeth whenever new stains develop. If you need additional whitening gel, it is available in our practice. Most patients find twice-yearly treatments will keep teeth bright and younger looking.

Is Professional Teeth Whitening Safe?

For most healthy patients, teeth whitening is completely safe and non-invasive. Studies show no alteration to the enamel, unlike abrasive toothpaste available over the counter. Professional teeth whitening gel penetrates the microscopic pores of the teeth using either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, bleaching away years of stains safely.

What If Teeth Whitening Makes My Teeth Sensitive?

Sensitivity is the most common side effect of teeth whitening. We take extra precautions to prevent this issue, so it happens rarely. If you experience tooth sensitivity, rest assured that it is a temporary condition and should resolve in a day or two. For at-home usage, we advise you to only use the recommended amount of teeth whitening gel. This prevents it from seeping onto the gums. We may also suggest taking a day or two off between whitening treatments.
